The oldest information about the family name, is the birth of Dominique Itçaina, in the year 1704, at Saint Etienne de Baigorry, daughter of Joannes Itçaina and Marie Garacotche. Also, the birth of Martin Itçaina was in the year 1779, at Saint Etienne de Baigorry, but their parents' names are not registered.

The exact date of immigration from France is unknown, but it was around 1860 to 1870. They say that he came in a boat as a stowaway.   4. Jean Baptiste ITZAINA, born December 26, 1853 in Les Aldudes, France, who emigrated to USA around year 1870 He died on June 25th, 1927 in Escondido, California, USA. He was a farmer. In Los Angeles, California, in the hotel where he was staying, waiting for the ship to take him back to France, he met the lady waiter in the restaurant, and they fell in love. She was also Basque, and they had many things in common. Jean Baptiste decided not to board the ship and settle in California. He never returned to France.
